Get Strong and Tone Your Core with This Effective Eight-Move Lower Body Workout

Are you in need of a quick and efficient workout to boost your motivation? Look no further! This lower body routine is perfect for both home and gym workouts, requiring minimal equipment. By focusing on your legs and core muscles, you’ll build strength and tone your body effectively.

To perform this routine, all you need is one of the best resistance bands available. These affordable rubber exercise bands add resistance to your bodyweight workout, helping to strengthen and tone your muscles without the need for weights. While some exercises in this routine incorporate the resistance band, it’s entirely up to you whether you include it or not.

Fitness instructor Nona Bayat has designed this eight-move routine that targets your legs, glutes, and core. Whether you choose to use the resistance band or not, these exercises will deliver excellent results.

If you’ve ever wondered about the effectiveness of resistance bands compared to weights, rest assured that workout bands are not a waste of your time. They work by providing resistance for your muscles to push against, similar to weights. When you purchase a set of bands, you’ll typically find varying levels of resistance, allowing for progressive overload. This method involves gradually increasing the load or number of reps to challenge your muscles and promote growth.

While Bayat’s workout provides recommended reps and times for each exercise, feel free to customize the routine based on your fitness level. Here are the steps for this session:

  1. Leg taps: 3 sets of 30 seconds
  2. Side to sides: 3 sets of 30 seconds
  3. Jump squats: 3 sets of 20 reps
  4. In & outs jump to squat: 3 sets of 15 reps
  5. Mountain climbers: 3 sets of 1 minute
  6. In & outs: 3 sets of 10 reps
  7. Alt in & outs: 3 sets of 12 reps
  8. Dead bug crunches: 3 sets of 12 reps

This workout incorporates high-intensity elements, particularly in exercises like jump squats and mountain climbers. These movements will elevate your heart rate, allowing you to work within your fat-burning heart rate zone. When your heart rate is elevated, your body utilizes stored fat as an energy source, promoting fat loss.

If you enjoy this type of workout and want to further enhance muscle growth and strength gains, consider incorporating high-intensity resistance training into your fitness routine.
