Empowering Athletes: Athletic Republic Franchisee Makes a Mark

Shae Sims, an exercise physiologist and franchisee of Athletic Republic, is making waves in the fitness industry with her unique approach to training athletes. With the opening of two locations in Park City and Salt Lake City, Utah, Sims aims to bring top-notch training to all athletes in the community.

Being part of the community has been a driving force for Sims, who believes that connecting with athletes on a personal level is essential. Despite opening her franchise during the pandemic, Sims has managed to make a significant impact by reaching out to local sports teams and clubs, fostering relationships that have contributed to her success.

In recognition of her outstanding efforts and a remarkable 106 percent increase in revenue in her first year, Athletic Republic awarded Sims the prestigious “Explosive TNT Award.” She attributes her success to her innovative thinking and willingness to go beyond the standard training protocols.

Sims saw an opportunity to enhance the strength training program and invested in new equipment and educational resources, particularly for younger athletes. By doing so, she not only improves the training experience but also emphasizes injury prevention, especially among female athletes who are often overlooked in strength training discussions.

Athletic Republic, with its 80-plus units, provides flexibility in terms of location size, ranging from 3,000 to 100,000 square feet. The franchise also allows for additional complementary offerings, such as yoga studios or 24-hour gyms like Snap Fitness, enabling franchisees to cater to diverse clientele.

Sims acknowledges that her achievements are not solely her own. She credits Heather Walker, her longtime friend and director of operations and marketing, for being an integral part of their shared success, referring to their collaboration as a “two-headed female monster.”

While Athletic Republic focuses on sports training and athletic improvement for clients of all ages, sports, and genders, it stands out with its rare 50 percent female clientele, according to Lindsay Simpson, the chief marketing officer of the company.

Sims has become a role model for female entrepreneurs and athletes, inspiring others in the industry. She humbly accepts this role, recognizing the importance of women’s presence and contributions in both the fitness industry and athletics.

As Sims continues her journey, she remains committed to the mission of Athletic Republic, seeing it as a privilege to create opportunities for women in an industry where they are underrepresented. She recognizes not only the value of females in the industry but also the significance of supporting female athletes along the way.
