Windscreen Wipers Pose
The Windscreen Wipers Pose is a gentle and dynamic yoga exercise that helps to release tension in the lower back, hips, and spine. This pose mimics the motion of windshield wipers, providing a soothing stretch and promoting mobility in the lumbar region.
How to Perform the Windscreen Wipers Pose:
- Start Position: Begin by lying on your back with your knees bent and feet flat on the mat, hip-width apart. Place your arms out to the sides in a T-shape, with your palms facing down.
- Engage the Core: Engage your core muscles to support your lower back and stabilize your spine.
- Drop the Knees: Slowly lower both knees to the right, allowing them to hover just above the mat. Keep your shoulders grounded and your arms extended.
- Return to Center: Engage your core and use your abdominal muscles to lift your knees back to the center position.
- Switch Sides: Slowly lower both knees to the left, maintaining the same controlled movement. Ensure your shoulders stay grounded.
- Repeat the Motion: Continue this windshield wiper motion, gently swaying your knees from side to side in a slow and controlled manner. Repeat for 8-10 rounds on each side.
- Breathing: Inhale as you bring your knees to the center, and exhale as you lower them to each side.
